Setting Apart on June 20, 2008

Dear Elders and Sisters

Sister Pendleton and I are thrilled to be finally coming to California where I served 35 years ago. We were set apart by Elder L. Tom Perry on Friday June 20th. He loves his son and dear sweet sister Perry and praised them for their faithful service. We do the same. President and sister Perry are the Lord's chosen and very special people. We have grown to love them and appreciate their service and love for you wonderful missionaries.
Sister Pendleton and I are missionaries through and through. We love this gospel with every fiber of our beings. A wonderful scripture in D&C 31:3 has come to pass for us as we enter the MTC in just a few hours. " Lift up your heart and rejoice, for the hour of your mission is come; and your tongue shall be loosed, and you shall declare glad tidings of great joy unto this generation." We are rejoicing. Our hearts are full and we look so forward to the privilege of meeting this great army of missionaries in the Roseville Mission. This is a glorious new beginning for all us. We have been praying and fasting with everything we know how for you and the people in California. This is the Lord's work and we glory in it. May the Lord bless you.

With all of our love.

President and Sister Pendleton
